Michael Ebling (SPD) ist seit 2012 Oberbürgermeister von Mainz und wurde 2019 im Amt bestätigt. Ab Mai 2006 war Ebling Staatssekretär in diversen Ministerien des Landes Rheinland-Pfalz. Zuvor war er Stadtratsmitglied, Mitglied im Fraktionsvorstand, Vorsitzender der SPD Mombach sowie bis 2017 Vorsitzender der Mainzer SPD. Ebling ist außerdem Vorsitzender des SPD-Regionalverbandes Rheinhessen.
Als Mitglied im Präsidium des Deutschen Städtetags seit 2014 und Präsident des Verbandes kommunaler Unternehmen e.V. seit 2016 setzt er sich zudem bundesweit für die Zusammenarbeit und Stärkung der kommunalen Ebene ein.
Michael Ebling (SPD) has been Lord Mayor of Mainz since 2012 and was confirmed in office in 2019. From May 2006, Ebling was state secretary in various ministries of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. Previously, he was a member of the city council, a member of the parliamentary group’s executive committee, chairman of the Mombach SPD, and chairman of the Mainz SPD until 2017. Ebling is also chairman of the SPD regional association of Rheinhessen.
As a member of the Executive Committee of the German Association of Cities and Towns since 2014 and President of the German Association of Local Public Utilities since 2016, Michael Ebling is also committed to cooperating and strengthening the municipal level nationwide.
